HOUSE MOVING TIPS

Good preparation makes for a stress-free move

ACCESS

Access can be the difference in a job taking two hours or four, so it is really important that we can get as close to both properties as possible. Please ensure there is space for two cars.

FRIDGE FREEZER & APPLIANCES

Remember to defrost your fridge and freezer no later than the day before your move. Washing machines that contain water should be drained and allowed to dry before removal. Please dont ask us to disconnect cookers or dishwashers. American Fridges need to be measured as they often need their doors taking off to fit through your door.

BEDS & WARDROBES

All beds and cots require dismantling before they can be moved. Triple wardrobes require dismantling and if there are tight corners on your stairs, double wardrobes may need to be dismantled too. Remember, we are removal men, not magicians!

ESSENTIALS

It's a good idea to keep all your essential items together in a suitable box for the day of the move. These will include things like any medication, credit cards, keys, wallets, mobile phones and jewellery.

PACKING

When packaging please ensure boxes can be closed (if not we can't put them on top of each other) and are securely taped up. Please remember to write which room the items are from on the outside of the box. Please wrap up mirrors, TV's and anything delicate.

WAITING FOR KEYS

When moving into a new property there is generally a time given by your solicitor when you will receive the keys. After years of moving we can safely say that the time you will be told by the solicitor is usually an hour early. Please bear this in mind when booking us.

YOUR HELP

We are glad of any help offered, though the best help you can be is to ensure you communicate with us clearly on where you would like items putting - labelling boxes with what room it needs to go in where possible.
